The Mission to Chinese Seamen Board met on January 21st for prayer, meditation, and discussion of current funding. Rev. Lee puts together ditty bags for the seamen to be distributed around Christmas time and it was suggested that in addition to scarfs, gloves etc that a Christian track be included.
Rev. Lee was able to visit, minister to, and help seafarers at Gloucester, Penn, Packer Avenue, Marcus Hook, and Monroe terminals. Cargo ships include container, fruit, oil, and car carriers with seafarers from India, Sri Lanka, Germany, and the Philippines.[table id=1 /]
April 22, 2017 – About 35 supporters of the mission attended our Spring Banquet celebrating 50 years of God’s work with seafarers. Our President, Hillary McLaughlin led the program with Rev. Casey Thompson giving the blessing and Rev. Lee and Rev. K.P. Jen giving inspirational presentations. We all enjoyed a delicious Chinese dinner followed by dessert sweets provided by Hill family members!
The Mission to Chinese Seamen Annual Spring Banquet will be held on April 22 at Wayne Presbyterian Church at 5:30pm. We will be celebrating our 50th year of ministering to the seamen that come into the many ports of Philadelphia. Our missionary, Byeong Lee, will be giving us an update of the opportunities to encourage and equip these men and women to face the extreme difficulties of life on the sea and separation from their families. The temptations are many and Satan is always on the prowl. Reservations may be made to Janice Hill (see Contact Us).
